We had a prairie dog for years. She died of old age. She was the best pet! Then there was a ban on praire dogs and we haven't been able to get one since. Can anyone help us?

I have a very nice prairie dog male. He is very gentle. He was given to my son. I have 4 dachshunds and do not have the time for him. I want a very good home for him with, preferably, no children.

Cecily, Did you find a home for your PD? We are in Michigan and we are looking for a PD. We have a HUGE home... with lots of space for a PD that is child-proof. He would be for my son who is 23 and in college... pre-med... mostly online courses this year, so he has plenty of time to help me adapt him to our family. You say you have dashhounds? We have no young children, but I was hoping he would possibly become a playmate for my little female chihuahua... who LOVES to run and chase and play... but our other chihuahua is too old and can't play that much. Both dogs are wonderful with pets. How old is your male? Several years ago we tried to buy a PD here in Michigan but they wanted to sell them as a pair and we couldn't afford two. They told us we had to have two to keep them happy... so we passed... and then when we could afford two and were ready for the space they needed to become part of the family... we couldn't find any. On a trip to Witchita, I took my kids all the way up to the Witchita mountains just to see the PDs... they have never forgotten it. So sweet and friendly I hoped they weren't being killed off by people feeding them junk. Please let me know. L. Walch Addison, MI
