Prairie Dog Lover's Burrow

About a week ago I got a PD, she is a female, I have no idea how old she is but she is pretty small.  When I take her out of her cage she will climb up on my chest and close her eyes while I scratch and pet her.  She quickly wants down and I let her roam the living room.  Sometimes when I pick her up she will scream at me and try to bite me so I let her down.  Or when I try to pet her she will squak at me and try to bite me.  It frightens me and I leave her alone, or will capture  her and put her back in her cage for a while before I let her out again. Today I sat down on the floor to pet her and play with her and she got real mad and jumped up on my lap screaming at me and tried to bite me..... Is there anything I can do to prevent these episodes?  I don't know what to do!!!!!  It scares me though

I'd recomend that every time she acts up putting her back in her cage and not letting her come back out till she calms down. I was told to buy fireplace gloves and to make the Prairie Dog let me hold them and not let them down or back in there cage untill they calm down. I however didn't have to do this as all three of my Prairie Dogs have been extreamly friendly and haven't really had any problems so far. I was giving that info by an Exotic Pet store owner.  Goodluck!

i think it might just be the age of the prairie dog bc my timone does the same thing! but he is mean about it, i really am starting to think its there age!!! the guy i got my timone from has 2 PD an his male he told me bout was very mean and bit him alot when he was a young PD. but now his PD is a nice cuddle bug an the guy said just be pacient with them, and i just wrote a thing about timone bc it was freaking me out to!
