my prairie dog timone who is 7 or 8 months old! always attacks people. like when he doesnt get his way he bites really hard to draw blood! especsially when there are new people in the house he goes to them and they push him away and he attacks with no warning! i dont know what to do. we put him back in his cage as soon as he does something like that but it is a non stop thing anyone new that comes in the house he attacks and bites, but its usually when he climbs on them and they try to push him away or tries to pick him up! i want to know if this is normal or if anyone else has this problem with there PD and if there is anything i can do?

Hi lulu,

 

have you had him neutered? if not, it may be time!!!!!! It makes a HUGE difference in their demeanor (attack vs no attack)!!!!!!  Make sure to find a vet who knows how to do it. Also, I've found my 3 male, neutered p.d's to be VERY "single owner" pets. They "chatter" (through their cage) at any stranger who comes into the house.  I don't let them out when friends come over.  hope this helps. i already neutered him he was neutered before he attacked. lol an thats what i thought not letting him out of the cage when ppl come over he just likes me and my man! thank you so much.n
