Prairie Dog Lover's Burrow

I am a first time PD owner & could not be happier with my lil boy Tip Allen & now lil girl, Lola Fae. When I purchased Tip from a pet store in Southern Oklahoma, I was unaware that he was not weaned. I was told he was 10 wks old, plenty old enough to be "on his own" so I thought. It was not until about 2 months later, when my sister's beloved "Scooter" died (he too was purchased at the pet store where Tip come from) did I find out that my Tip was not weaned & was no where near the age I was told he was. I was advised by the pet store that we bought my sister's new baby "Binks" from to immediatly put him on puppy formula. So I did, literally started him on formula & prayed. I am happy to say Tip is doing great today. Had it not been for my sister wanting a PD again so soon after the death of her sweet Scooter, (which was a miracle decision in itself, as it usually takes a while for us to get over the loss of one of our animals) & the knowledge & help from S&S Exotics in Houston Texas, Tip would not be with me today. It was a long 5 months in the beginning when I got him, but I would not trade a second of those 5 months for nothing!! Tip is 2 yrs old as of August 1st 2011. I added Miss Lola Fae to the family (against my husbands better judgement...lol) in late May of 2011. She is 5 months old now & is a total joy. She is way more vocal than Tip is but Tip will always be my #1!
